How we learn...

So good news, bad news this week. Bad news, our furnace went out two nights ago. We knew it was coming as we've been babying it along for the past two years. I was just hoping to get through the holidays. No such luck. It went out as we came back from swimming for FHE, while 7 of us had to take turns washing off chlorine in ONE shower, and the rest had to patiently wait in their wet swimsuits. Then we spent the coldest night of the year with many extra blankets and me turning space heaters on for a while whenever I was up during the night so my children wouldn't get too cold (namely the baby who won't keep a blanket on).

Now for the good news. My DAD!!!! He is a plumber and also does heating! He got us the furnace at cost and was amazing to get it and install it the next morning. The other good news is that he left town today so if the furnace had hobbled through two more days and then quit, we would have had to find another solution. Last night we slept well in a warm and toasty house, despite the 20 degree temps outside. Thank goodness for the miracles that take place, even during frustrating times.

So I'm attempting to help my dad with the furnace installation yesterday (more like observing, asking questions, and offering little help) and Tyler is watching the process. He then proceeds to tell me he has figured out how to fix the furnace.
"Mommy, you just have to take that pipe there, and connect it to that pipe there and fix that part and that pipe and the furnace will work again."
"Wow, Tyler, that is impressive that you would know how to fix a furnace. How did you learn that?"
"I learned it in circle time, mommy. I learn everything in circle time."

So thank you Teacher Lynda, the best preschool teacher ever. Thanks to your circle time, my 4 year-old knows how to fix a furnace. (She really is the best preschool teacher ever!)

Cute :) I am always laughing at what comes out of my kids mouths too. Aren't plumbers the best? I love it that I always have one readily available for all of my emergency's. Funny cause not 3 weeks ago Bob & Sandy's furnace went out too. Bob had an extra one at the shop so he just popped it in and wha-la... HEAT! Are any of your brothers plumbers too?

Two of my brothers are also plumbers so the family tradition does continue.

Love to see you have a blog too - we'll be able to keep up this way! Haylee loves circle time too - such a treat to have her in preschool 2 days a week (when it's not snowing and school is cancelled!). Tell everyone hi for us!
